Footsteps - January 2010

The New Year edition of Footsteps from the Vicarage in Weston-super-Mare, where it is cold, wet and miserable, but there is a very warm welcome here in the studio. In this first programme of the year 2010 we look at Political correctness and Equality and Diversity.   A review of a useful book for those who have been bereaved recently.  It is called Gentle Keeping, written by Maureen O’Brien and is published by Ave Maria Press.  Plus some of my favourite music from the last year, and a short time of prayer towards the end of the programme.

Grayson Wray - The mountains in the mist
The Longing - Heal this Land
Karen Shadbolt - Keep on living

Underground Edition for the New Year - 2010

Hello there, this is Bill Everatt, with news about the latest Celtica Radio Underground Edition, Receivable Worldwide, On-line, On Digital Wireless and the Nokia Mobile Phone Network, for January 2010.

And in this update: -

My special guest is Peter Paul Parker.

Our Urban Legends feature has the story of the Ice Cream Draft read by Robbie Peterson.

Andrew John will be here in just over a quarter of an hour, talking about the proposal in Uganda to slaughter gay people for, well, for being gay!!!  Plus even more worryingly, those who’ve remained silent on the issue, or who, as in one case, have actually supported the measure.

And in our “who said this?”  I’d like to know who said this; “Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average.  Which means you’ve met your New Year’s resolution.”  So, who said that?  I’ll give you the answer at the end of the show.

Christmas

Christmas is almost upon us and already the trapping of commercialism are well in flow. For me Christmas is much more than pigging out with food and binge drinking. It is more than receiving presents, although that does add to the enjoyment. So what is it all about?

Christmas is really the opportunity to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world. He is the real reason for the season - not all the trappings of commercialism. Why don’t you go along to your local Church over Christmas and see the real Christmas?

Have a real Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Footsteps

Keith’s latest edition of Footsteps is now up and running. In it he looks at assisted suicide and climate change as well as a couple of books reviews for those Christmas presents. In addition the programme also tells the real story of Christmas accompanied by more traditional Christmas music. So why don’t you join him for this Christmas spectacular?
