Feldspar- Bright Day

Feldspar- Bright Day

It would be difficult to overstate the importance of Feldspar’s musical contribution to the new emerging wave of young, exceptionally talented, folk-inspired artists and acts. Folk in the sense that songs such as Feldspar’s will almost certainly inspire the listener to repeat and treat what they have heard as a matter of traditional, current and far-reaching relevance.

Bright Day opens with song- The Window and as Will Green sings the words- “For the window is only some sand and sticks, a basic conclusion like all the best tricks”. We are transported through his sepia tinted window and into a world of emotional musings, spiritual analogy, intriguing metaphor, twinkling guitars, wave upon wave of fresh wonderful songs meticulously and expertly delivered by cellist ( Ben Cashell), pianist (Ben Evans) and soprano saxophonist (Rob Cope). This music is revealing. Revealing in the sense that it evokes and articulates feelings of loss, longing, regret, satisfying and at times-painful conclusions. This is an album of substance, subjective truth and holistic value.

The record ends with the song- Bright Day. ‘The candle is blown out’, the curtains are closed and we are left feeling exhilarated, warm, focused and eager to peer through the window again at the earliest opportunity.
